Dr Richard Pomfret

I hold a professional doctorate (DPsych) in counselling psychology, which gives me chartered status with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Alongside my private practice, I work in the NHS. I also lecture on postgraduate psychology courses.

I believe that everyone deserves to feel happy and fulfilled. I am passionate about helping people reach their full potential and live the lives they want to live. I offer a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Together, we can work towards creating positive change in your life.

I work individually with adults (18+). In addition to private practice, I have worked in NHS primary care, secondary care, and specialist addiction and dermatology (psychodermatology) services. I also have worked in third sector mental health support services. Before retraining as a psychologist, I had a prior career as a producer in the videogame and software industry. This gives me additional insight into game/app development and how they can lead into addiction.

I have experience working with a range of issues, including: low mood and depression, anxiety, bereavement, relationship/marriage issues, abuse, addictions and compulsive behaviours, anger issues and trauma. I have a specialism in working with behavioural addictions and issues with technology, internet, gambling, gaming, pornography and shopping.

I work both online and in-person, with clinic rooms based in London and Surrey. If you would like to work with me, please contact me for an initial chat.
